Oznaczenie stali składa się z numeru normy i albo znaku stali zgodnie z EN 10027-1 i CR 10260, albo z numeru stali zgodnie z EN 10027-2.

Znak stali składa się z:

litery L dla rurociągów;
podanej minimalnej granicy plastyczności danej stali dla grubości ścianki równej 16 mm lub mniejszej, wyrażonej w MPa.
